Feedback and the Role of the Principal Supervisors

Most states in their state ESSA plans cite that principals and school leadership are important local levers to teacher support, student support, and ESS plan success. However, how can states and districts support school leadership?  In April 2018, Matt Clifford from the GTL Center and Kat Collins from the Nevada Department of Education presented to the REL West and West Comprehensive Center states on the role of principal supervisors.  The presentation highlighted the research behind supporting school leadership, who are principal supervisors, what they do, and how states and districts can provide support. Additionally, state support strategies were shared including communicating roles, aligning with national principal supervisor standards, and providing quality principal performance data.
