Teacher-led Professional Learning
Many excellent teachers would like to share their success with peers and advance in their careers without leaving teaching but have few opportunities to do so. The Innovation Station’s resources will help schools and districts determine how they can enable excellent teachers to lead job-embedded professional learning by focusing on the following areas:
- Defining Teacher-Leader Roles, with links to research and descriptions of roles some districts use
- Selecting Teacher-Leaders, with publications and information on what skills and competencies teacher-leaders need
- Training for Teacher-Leaders, with links to national teacher-leader training programs
- Finding Time for Teacher-Led Professional Learning, including publications and websites to help find time during the school day for teachers to lead on-the-job development
- Funding for Teacher-Led Professional Learning, with publications, case studies, and links to funding sources
- Leading Successful Teams, with publications and research on teacher-led teams and successful teams in general
- Evaluating Teacher-Leaders, including publications and resources to create a teacher evaluation system and general information on measuring job performance
