Teacher Evaluation Systems to Support Teacher Growth

Comprehensively designed teacher evaluation systems have the potential to do the following:

  • Identify and build on individual and collective teacher strengths.
  • Enhance instruction.
  • Identify exemplary teachers who might serve as mentors.
  • Identify teachers in need of training and support.

In this July 2013 presentation at the Virginia Department of Education’s “From Vision to Practice” conference, Angela Minnici, Ph.D., and Monica Mean discuss how to use evaluation results to guide professional learning and inform instruction.
