Understanding Teaching Conditions Data

Understanding Teaching ConditionsWhat are teaching conditions and why are they important to include in equity work? At the “Topical Meeting on Equitable Access to Excellent Teachers and Leaders,” hosted by the Center on Great Teachers and Leaders (GTL Center) and the Council of Chief State School Officers on February 3 and 4, 2015, Gretchen Weber and Judith Ennis presented an overview of teaching conditions. The goal of this session is for participants to become acquainted with the various types of teaching conditions data and the processes in which these data can be used to improve school climate. Through this presentation, participants will build capacity to collect and use teaching conditions data as part of the continuous improvement cycle. Effectively using teacher retention and effectiveness data contributes to the continuous improvement cycle, resulting in positive impacts on teacher retention and effectiveness–and, ultimately, student learning.
