I would like to see a national movement by teacher associations to help identify master teachers who would work in partnership with teacher training institutions train future teachers:
1. TA's would help identify master teachers who would be willing to have "apprentice" teachers work with them in the classroom.
2. Then teacher education programs would provide on site and online content and methods courses in support of in-the classroom training so teacher candidates can meet state teaching endorsement requirements.
3. At the DOE and state levels, funding would be provided to compensate the master teachers for their training support. Tuition loans for the teacher candidates (i.e. apprentice teachers) would be forgiven if the "apprenticed" teacher candidates are hired and remain in hard to place areas such as rural or urban schools for a period of at least five years.
